MATERIALS:

Debbie Bliss Fez Aran, 85% Merino wool/15% camel, 50g/100m/109yds

Shade: Rose 20513 x 3 (3, 5, 5) balls

4mm hook

4 (4, 6, 6) buttons

TENSION:

Work 14tr and 8 rows to measure 10x10cm/4 x 4in using 4mm hook, or size required to obtain tension.

PATTERN NOTES:

1ch turning chain does not count as a stitch, but 3ch t-ch counts as a treble throughout. Where t-ch counts as tr, do not work first stitch but work stitch in t-ch from previous rnd.

YOKE:

49(49, 56, 56)ch.


PATTERN:


Row 1: Starting in 4th ch from hook 7 (7, 8, 8)tr, *(1tr, 1ch, 1tr) in next ch, 5 (5, 6, 6)tr; rep from * to last 3 ch, 3tr, turn -53 (53,60,60) sts.

Row 2: 3ch, 8 (8, 9, 9)tr, *(1tr, 1 ch, 1tr) in ch-sp, 7 (7, 8, 8)tr; rep from * to last 2 sts, 2tr, turn -65 (65, 72, 72) sts.

Row 3: 3ch, 9 (9, 10, 10)tr, *(1tr, 1 ch, 1tr) in ch-sp, 9 (9, 10, 10)tr; rep from * to last st, 1 tr, turn -77 (77, 84, 84) sts.

Size 12-24 months:

Row 8: 3ch, 15tr, *(1tr, 1ch, 1tr) in ch-sp, 20tr; rep from * to last ch-sp, (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) in ch-sp, 16tr, turn -140 sts.

BODY:

Row 1: With yarn still attached, counting each tr and 1 ch-sp as a stitch, 1ch, 13(14, 16, 17)dc, 5ch, miss 26 (28, 30, 30) sts, 29 (35, 46, 52)dc, 5ch, miss 26 (28, 30, 30) sts, 13(14, 16, 17)dc, turn -65(73, 88, 96) sts.

Row 2: Working into each st andch across, 1ch, *1dc, 1tr; rep from* to last st, 1dc, turn -65(73, 88, 96) sts.

Row 3: 1 ch, 1dc in dc, *1dc in tr, 1tr in dc; repeat from * to last 2 sts, 2dc, turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the cardigan is 23 (28, 30, 33)cm/9 (11, 12, 13)in long.

Work dc evenly around the front and collar.

Break yarn and fasten off.

SLEEVES

Rnd 1: Join the yarn in the central st of the underarm,1ch, work 32 (34, 36, 38)dc evenly around armhole, join with sl st in first st, do not turn - 32 (34, 36, 38) sts.

Rnd 2: 1ch, 1dc, *1ch, miss 1 st, 1dc; rep from * to last st, 1ch, miss 1, join with sl st, do not turn -16(17, 18, 19) sts.

Rnd 3: 2ch, miss 1dc, *1dc in ch-sp, 1 ch, miss 1dc; rep from * around ending with 1dc in ch-sp, join with sl st, do not turn.

Rnd 4: 1 ch, 1dc in ch-sp, *1ch, miss 1dc, 1dc in ch-sp; rep from * around ending with 1dc in ch-sp, join with si st, do not turn.

Repeat rnds 3 & 4, 8 (10, 13, 16) times more. Fasten off.

STRAPS

Make 2 (2, 3, 3)

11ch, starting in 7th ch from hook, 5dc, 6ch, rotate to work on opposite side of foundation chain, 5dc, 8dc in 6ch-sp, 5dc, 8dc in 6ch-sp, sl st to join.

Break yarn and fasten off.

FINISHING

Weave in all ends. Using photo as a guide, position and sew buttons on to the yoke near the opening.

Attach strap to buttons.
